Cartesius Utrecht

The Cartesius Triangle is a business area of some 13 hectares, sandwiched between two busy railway tracks, Zuilen station and Cartesiusweg. This area is being transformed into a new sustainable and healthy residential area with around 2,600 homes and 25,000^{m2 of} facilities. Safe is also proud to contribute to this extensive housing project.

Field 00

The important Cartesius urban development consists of several subareas .

Veld 00, the new CAB, will be the living room of the district and its surroundings; eye-catcher and epicentre of the neighbourhood. On top of the existing, historic CAB building (in which NS used to repair buses), Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling is having a residential tower with 246 rental homes built. Heddes engaged Safe for a special piece of support. This is because the new residential tower will be founded on a newly built table structure, which will have to be designed right through the existing building. The support structure we will engineer, deliver and assemble will therefore also run through the roof construction. Using steel beams, we will create a working platform here on which the main contractor can assemble the prefabricated table structure. Work will start before the construction holidays. We will definitely come back to this daring project later this year!

Field 01

Subproject Field 01 consists of four residential towers and a ground-level housing block, totalling some 29,000^{m2 of} concrete surface to be supported. Safe provides Cazant Betonbouw, responsible for the concrete work of Field 01, with a helping hand. We provide all the wide slab floors, wet beams, wall beams and precast balconies that need to be supported. Safe also takes care of the exact height adjustment and laying of the wide slabs. Work has now started.
